Clifton Chenier (June 25, 1925 - December 12, 1987) was the pre-leading performing artist of zydeco music, a blend of Cajun and Creole music with R&B, jazz, and blues influences.

Chenier's career began inside 1954, whilst he signed using Elko Records & freed "Cliston's Blues", the regional hit. It was before long followed by "Ay Tete Fille (Hey, Little Girl)" (cover of Professor Longhair), which released a select few mainstream profits. By having a Zydeco Ramblers, Chenier toured extensively & before long signed to Chicago's Chess Records, followed by Arhoolie. His popularity peaked in the Eighties, while he won the Grammy Award, the 1st Creole to run sol.

Chenier died of kidney disease around 1987 and was buried altogether Individuals Burial ground in Loreauville, Iberville Parish. Fortuitously his boy CJ Chenier is carrying in in the zydeco tradition using the road b& and quality album releases.
